Localised car paintwork repairs with Spot Repair
Spot Repair is suitable for minor paintwork damage confined to a clearly defined area, such as stone chips or a scratch on the wheel rim. The damaged area is sanded down, primed and repainted with a precisely matched colour. A thin layer of clear coat is then applied to ensure a smooth transition to the rest of the surface.
Minor dents or bumps can sometimes be repaired using this method without damaging the original paintwork. In such cases, the panel is carefully pushed back into place and the area is then finely polished to smooth out any unevenness and restore the shine. If the surface is intact, repainting can usually be avoided altogether.
Minor paintwork damage to the bodywork can thus be easily repaired using spot repair. The prerequisite is that the affected area does not have any load-bearing or safety-critical functions.
Repairing plastic parts rather than replacing them
In the case of cracks in plastic parts such as the bumper, the damaged area is stabilised from the inside using a special filler, then smoothed and, if necessary, colour-matched. This preserves the original appearance – without the need for an expensive replacement.
Minor damage to the interior can also be repaired in this way. Special repair compounds are used for this purpose, which are colour-matched and finished to match the original surface as closely as possible in both texture and appearance.
