Duration of the wheel alignment
You should generally allow 30 to 60 minutes for a wheel alignment. If any adjustments or repairs to the chassis are required afterwards, the visit to the garage may take longer. In most cases, however, you will be able to collect your vehicle on the same day.
When is a wheel alignment advisable?
Severe jolts can alter the wheel alignment. This is the case, for example, in the following situations:
- After an accident, a hard impact with a kerb or a deep pothole.
- If your vehicle pulls to one side or no longer drives straight ahead properly.
- If the steering wheel is not centred when driving in a straight line.
- In the event of one-sided or uneven tyre wear, particularly before new tyres are fitted.
- After replacing or repairing chassis and steering components.
Regardless of any specific reason, a regular check may be advisable – for example, once a year or every 30,000 kilometres.
How wheel alignment and track adjustment are carried out
During the wheel alignment check, we examine the toe-in and toe-out, the track width, the camber and, depending on the vehicle, other wheel alignment parameters such as the caster. We then compare the measured values with the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
The wheel alignment check first determines whether the wheels are correctly aligned. If the values deviate, we proceed with the wheel alignment adjustment. We then correct the adjustable settings in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Following the alignment, you will receive a measurement report detailing the actual and target values. If we identify any worn or damaged chassis components, such as a track rod or a wishbone, we will discuss the necessary work with you and provide a cost estimate before carrying out the repair.
Less tyre wear and greater safety
If the toe and camber are correctly adjusted, the tyres make more even contact with the road surface. As a result, they wear less unevenly and last longer.
Handling is also improved: your vehicle holds its line better, responds more directly to steering inputs and is easier to control. This is particularly noticeable at higher speeds and when cornering.
Costs for wheel alignment & track adjustment
A wheel alignment alone usually costs between 130 and 160 euros*. The exact price depends on the vehicle model. Any necessary track adjustment is not included in this price and will be charged separately. The same applies to repairs to worn or damaged chassis components.
