Repairing dents and bodywork damage
Small dents and hail damage without paint damage can often be repaired by dent removal, meaning the affected part does not need to be repainted. Our specialists use specialised tools to restore the panel to its original shape. This method is suitable, for example, for minor parking dents and hail dents.
In the case of deep dents, sharp-edged deformations or damaged paintwork, a spot repair is not always sufficient. In such cases, we work on the panel, prepare the surface and then repaint the affected area in our paint shop. Smart Repair is suitable for localised dents and paintwork damage, provided that no load-bearing areas are affected. Extensive deformations, cracks, sharp kinks or damage to load-bearing components require traditional bodywork repairs.
Repairing or replacing damaged bodywork parts
If the shape and structural integrity can be professionally restored, we repair affected components such as wings, sills or doors. If a part is too badly damaged, we replace it and adapt the replacement part to the vehicle.
We then prepare the repaired surfaces for repainting. This ensures that bodywork and paintwork are carried out in a coordinated manner within our workshop.
Bodywork measurement and straightening
Following a severe impact, the vehicle’s structure may become distorted. Signs of this may include changes in handling, uneven tyre wear or doors and bonnets that no longer close properly. During body alignment, we compare the vehicle’s dimensions with the manufacturer’s specified data.
We record any deviations using a measurement system. We then correct any distortions using tension and compression systems. Afterwards, we measure the bodywork again and compare the results with the manufacturer’s specifications.
From the damage assessment to the handover of the vehicle
1. Book an appointment: Book an appointment online at our body shop in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
- Inspect the damage: We’ll examine the affected areas and determine whether there is any further deformation or hidden damage. 3. Agree on the repair: You’ll receive an estimate of the scope of work and the expected costs. If we need to adjust the scope after dismantling the vehicle, we’ll inform you before carrying out any additional work. 4. Repair the bodywork: We repair or replace damaged parts, straighten out deformed areas and carry out the necessary paintwork. 5. Hand over the vehicle: Once the work is complete, we check the repaired areas and arrange the handover with you.
How much does a bodywork repair cost in Berlin?
The cost of a bodywork repair depends on the extent of the damage and therefore cannot be quoted as a flat rate. The key factors are the components affected, the amount of labour required, the spare parts needed, and any necessary alignment and paintwork.
Following the assessment, we will explain to you what work is necessary and what costs you can expect. There is a charge for the written quotation. If you subsequently commission us to carry out the repair, we will offset this fee against the total cost.
For older vehicles, we also take the vehicle’s value into account. If the estimated repair costs exceed the replacement value, the vehicle may be considered a total write-off from an economic perspective. In this case, a motor vehicle valuation report provides a reliable basis for decision-making.
In the case of historic vehicles, restoration may be desired regardless of the current market value. Our classic car restoration team will advise you on this.
Handle bodywork repairs easily through your insurance
Following an accident, we’ll take care of the repairs to your vehicle and support you every step of the way, from the initial damage assessment right through to handover.
Who pays for what?
- Accident not your fault: The other party’s third-party motor insurance usually covers the costs. In the case of damage caused by collisions with wildlife or severe weather, comprehensive insurance often pays.
- Damage caused by your own fault: In this case – depending on your cover – your comprehensive insurance will apply.
- No comprehensive cover: If the repair costs are below your excess or you have no additional cover, you will have to bear the costs yourself.
Our service for you: Our accident and claims management team supports you from the initial damage assessment right through to your fully repaired vehicle. On request, we’ll handle all communication with the insurance company and settle the claim directly with them. You won’t have to worry about a thing.
